Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to FolderXD. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the FolderXD Chrome Extension and any related services, including the optional Cloud Sync feature (collectively, the "Service"). By installing, accessing, or using FolderXD, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not install or use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

FolderXD is a browser extension that injects a custom folder and organization interface into Google Workspace apps and similar web applications, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Keep. FolderXD allows you to:

  • Create, rename, and organize folders, including setting a custom folder color.
  • Add documents, notes, and other pages to your folders by saving their URL and an optional title.
  • View and manage your folders and saved files directly inside supported Google Workspace apps.

By default, FolderXD is free to use, works entirely offline, and stores all of your data locally in your browser's local storage, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Free Features and Cloud Sync (Premium Feature)

The core features of FolderXD, including creating folders, setting folder colors, and adding files to folders, are free to use and do not require an account, login, or subscription. When used this way, your data is stored only in your browser's local storage and is not transmitted to FolderXD's servers.

FolderXD also offers an optional, paid Cloud Sync feature that allows you to back up your folders and saved files to the cloud and retrieve them on other devices and browsers. Cloud Sync is entirely optional and fully manual:

  • There is no setting to "enable" or "disable" Cloud Sync, no background sync, and no automatic uploads. Instead, the FolderXD interface shows two buttons, "Sync" and "Fetch", and the extension only communicates with our cloud servers when you press one of these buttons.
  • Pressing "Sync" uploads your current local folders and files to your cloud backup, overwriting the previous cloud backup for your account with your current local data.
  • Pressing "Fetch" downloads your previously synced folders and files from the cloud and applies them to the current browser, for example after reinstalling the extension or when setting up a new device or browser.
  • Deleting a folder or file locally also removes it from your cloud backup the next time you press "Sync", as shown by a pending-change indicator (a yellow dot) on the "Sync" button.

Cloud Sync requires an active, paid monthly subscription. If your subscription lapses or is canceled, you will no longer be able to use the "Sync" or "Fetch" buttons to communicate with our cloud servers, but you will continue to have full access to FolderXD's free, local-only features and your locally stored data.

4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

If you choose to purchase a Cloud Sync subscription, you agree to pay the subscription fees displayed to you at the time of purchase. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis until canceled.

Subscription payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers. You are responsible for keeping your payment information up to date.

You may cancel your FolderXD monthly subscription at any time. Cancellation will stop future billing, but does not automatically delete your existing cloud-synced data; you may request deletion of that data separately as described in our Privacy Policy. Except where required by applicable law, subscription fees are non-refundable.

5. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law to use the Service, and you must use FolderXD in compliance with these Terms and with Google's own terms of service for the Google Workspace apps you use FolderXD alongside.

When using FolderXD, you agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, state, national, or international law.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the Service, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Use the Service to access, store, or organize content that you do not have the right to access or that infringes the rights of others.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, our servers, or our Cloud Sync infrastructure.
  • Use the Cloud Sync feature to store data unrelated to FolderXD's intended purpose of organizing folders, documents, and links.

6. Your Data and Content

You retain all rights to the folders, file URLs, titles, and other content you create or save using FolderXD ("Your Content"). FolderXD does not claim ownership of Your Content.

By default, Your Content is stored only in your browser's local storage. If you choose to use Cloud Sync, Your Content that you sync (folder names, colors, organization structure, and saved URLs and titles) will also be stored with our database provider, Supabase, solely for the purpose of providing the Cloud Sync feature to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are solely responsible for Your Content, including ensuring that you have the right to save and organize the links and titles you add to FolderXD.

7. Intellectual Property

The FolderXD name, logo, extension code, user interface, and related materials are the property of FolderXD and its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use FolderXD's trademarks, logos, or branding without our prior written consent.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the FolderXD extension for your personal or business use.

8. Third-Party Services

FolderXD is designed to work alongside Google Workspace applications (such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Keep). FolderXD is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google. Your use of Google's services remains subject to Google's own terms and privacy policies.

The optional Cloud Sync feature relies on third-party infrastructure, including Supabase for data storage and a third-party payment provider for processing subscription payments. Your use of Cloud Sync may also be subject to the relevant terms of those providers.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully compatible with every version of Google Workspace apps or other web applications, as these third-party services may change at any time in ways outside of our control.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FolderXD and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claims arising out of or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount, if any, you paid us for Cloud Sync in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using FolderXD at any time by uninstalling the extension from your browser. Uninstalling the extension will permanently remove all locally stored FolderXD data, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Cloud Sync if you violate these Terms, fail to pay applicable subscription fees, or if we discontinue the Cloud Sync feature. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance of any planned discontinuation of Cloud Sync where practical.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of FolderXD after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
